Sedgwick
The town of Sedgwick was incorporated in 1798, second in the county and fifty-ninth in the state. Recent archaeological discoveries indicate European exploration and possible settlement here predating Columbus.
Building vessels for fishing or trade began with "The Trial" being built at the head of Herrick's Bay in 1790. Around the turn of the century "summer people" began to visit the area and established a colony along Eggemoggin Reach.
The area has recently begun to grow, attracting retirees, entrepreneurs and young families. This growth is attributed to cleaner living, both stress wise and environmentally.
